Fear Truths

Fear Truth One

As long as I continue to grow the FEAR will never go away.

For so long as I began to challenge myself, stretch my capabilities, take new risks and start making positive choices towards my goals and dreams, I finally realized that the fear was never going away. When this lightbulb went off, I can promise you, my life did a radical shift. Yes, I was so sure there must be a magic formula for fear. I confess that I searched and searched for that formula in numerous books and various articles, and to no avail, I did not find that magic formula. Therefore, after playing the when/then game for so long, you know that game, “When I am no longer afraid, then I will make a life change, etc…” Listen, my dear friends more importantly knowing you do not have to work so hard at getting rid of the fear can be mind changing. Learning to embrace fear is powerful and of course, you know what your paybacks are, I am sure.

Fear Truth Two

The only way to get rid of the fear of doing something is to go out and do it.

I am reminded of my first speaking gig. Oh my, my knees were knocking, my hands were shaking, and my lips were oh so nervous. Yes, of course, there had many hours of prepping on paper and in front of a mirror. However, nothing took away the horrible pit in my stomach. All I could think of was soon it would be over. Then, it was over. Of course, it was easier the next time and easier the next time. It just took “doing it” and doing it some more. Soon, I began to relax and the energy of the room and those who came to engage became quite powerful. Your “doing it” gets better and better. So feel the fear and “do it” anyway. Your payback is amazing. “Remember, when you cannot then, you must.”
